I am officially 9 full months pregnant! It's pretty crazy to think that tomorrow I'll only have three weeks until my due date!! (although I'm pretty sure she's going to be late)
This week has been another busy one! Over the weekend I had my baby shower at my mother in law's house (more on that in a little bit). Once I got home it was laundry and baby sorting again. Monday and Tuesday we had the interior of our house painted (you can see one of the colors in the weekly update bump pic). Then we made a list of all the items we still defiantly needed before Teagan comes and priced out where the items were cheapest then ordered a bunch of the items online, used gift cards for stores to get the rest of the needed items. Funny little fact: if you can (insert action here) a cat you can (insert action) a baby. For instance we got some hooded towels and practiced on Pepper to wrap her up. We also practiced on the baby wearing carriers with Pepper. When our baby swing came in, we put CJ in it (he loves it). I just wish we had taken pictures of this "baby practice"!
Developmentally:
I have officially been pregnant for 9 full months now! With less then a month to go Teagan can pretty much come out whenever she wants, though the longer she stays in the more developed her organs such as her lungs and brain develop. The pound and a half I gained last week disappeared! So I'm back to 18 pounds gained in 36 weeks. This week I saw the nurse practitioner for my doctor's office because my doctor is on vacation for the next two weeks. She recommended I treat myself to some ice cream and pasta this week to try and put on some weight (YAY!! don't have to tell me twice on that one!) I got my results of my test last week and it was negative (yay! no antibiotics needed during labor!) AND they did a sonogram to check Teagan's positioning; she's head down like she's supposed to be so really we just wait. Next week's appointment will consist of "checking me" to see if I'm dilated at all. This is something that I'll have to endure weekly until Teagan decides to come.
Speaking of Teagan, she's probably around 6 pounds and between 19 and 20 inches long (depending on if you are going off the app or book's info). The longer she is content to stay in my belly, the more fully developed all her organs will be. She still enjoys moving around ALOT and digging in my ribs. She has also gotten into a funny habit of sticking her foot (or some other pointy body part) into my side so I look like I have oddly placed bumps.
Symptom Check:
My symptoms haven't really changed too much this last week. All those questions they ask every week about labor symptoms still haven't shown up. My back still pains me ALL THE TIME... and the heartburn is still there like an annoying little chihuahua that you just want to kick away. The only new thing I've been experiencing is leg cramps, more specifically my left calf muscle just randomly cramps up and when I get it to un cramp my leg feels so stiff and like it will cramp at any moment the rest of the day, AND on the flip side my right leg goes numb and falls asleep. Now before you go and tell me to drink more water I DO! apparently this is a VERY common symptom in late pregnancy and I guess I'll take cramped legs over cankles any day!
Baby Shower #2:
Like I said earlier, I attended my shower at my mother in law's house this past weekend and here is the stash of items I came home with! (not the cat.. he claimed that spot after I laid everything out) This week Teagan once again got a bunch of adorable items to add to her ever growing wardrobe and a bunch of homemade items like bibs, clothes and blankets! She also got a few storage bins which will come in handy in organizing her room! One really cool thing was instead of cards, the ladies got Teagan books to add to her library. I completely forgot to bring my camera (actually left it at my house) so the only pics I have are of the items I got:
Even after kicking him off the couch repeatedly, CJ still felt all the stuff was for him. |
So here is Teagan's diaper bag:
It is by the company Thirty One and is the perfect size I think :) I got to pick out the pattern and even had her name added to it. There are two shoulder straps and a spot to add a long strap for a cross body strap if needed. I really like it because it doesn't scream "girly" so my hubby won't be to embarrassed to carry the bag. There is a zipper pouch on the front side that I will probably end up using as my pocket for my wallet and keys when Teagan comes (I am NOT carrying a million bags AND a baby) and on the other side a pouch for other things. Then a mesh pocket on each side for drinks or bottles or whatever else needs to be stuffed.
So for the inside of the bag, there is two mesh pockets on one side where I have her wet/dry bag and diaper changing liner, the other side has a small pouch and a looped clip where I can put rings and earrings on (I'll have to take a pic of that side to explain that side better).
And now for what I packed for the hospital. For starters you may notice that I DO NOT have cloth diapers for the hospital. After A BUNCH of discussion with the hubby and my doctor, we came to the decision that for the hospital it will be easier to just get a pack of disposables. That way I don't have to argue with hospital staff and IF I have issues at the birth that may extend my stay I don't want to worry about sending the hubby home to do diaper laundry. AND on top of that I really don't want to come home from the hospital with a bunch of laundry to immediately do. So I got a pack of babyganics diapers. They are hypoallergenic and don't have the synthetics that I'm allergic to. I also got water wipes instead of regular baby wipes for the same reason.
But as soon as we get her home she will be in the cloth diapers we stocked up on!
From the side pouches: one burp cloth (pink), wet/dry bag for baby cloths that may get soiled (black & white) and a changing pad (white).
I also packed two bibs for spit up or drool or what not, I originally didn't have these packed but it was recommended to so I did.
Starting from the top left and going counter clockwise here are her outfits I packed: Gown for after birth and little shoes I made that matches a nursing gown I made. (yellow and white gown) At my hospital they don't bath the baby (they do wipe her off) for around 12 hours to encourage bonding and nursing so this gown is an easy on/off gown because it doesn't have any feet. Then going strait down is a terry cloth footy onesie (white and multi colored dots) for after her first bath and a beanie that I made. The three onesies in the middle (zebra, elephant, and giraffe print) some with hats to wear. Then on the far right (giraffe print) is the new born swaddle pod I got. This was purchased for the hubby so he doesn't have to struggle with folding Teagan up in a big swaddle blanket (I'll leave the practice for that for when we get her home.
I also packed one muslin swaddle blanket (bumblebee print) and two thicker cotton blankets to swaddle her in if its cold (elephant print and flower print).
And finally here's what we have as her going home outfit. Super cute little puppy "I love kisses from Mommy" outfit with little ballet slipper and puppy beanie. For those concerned about all the short sleeved outfits, let me remind you I live in ARIZONA... it was still 100 degrees just two days ago and she's due in 3 weeks so it will probably be in the 90s or 80s when she's born. (I have pics from past Christmases and Thanksgivings where I'm in shorts and T-shirt.. sorry east coast people!)
SO for next week: What you all have been waiting for! (not Teagan... hopefully) TEAGAN'S ROOM REVEAL! That's right! next week I will do a post on her room that we have been working on for sooooo long! And kind of a mini house tour in the sense that I'll show you all the spots we have other baby stuff like her swing downstairs and her small crib in our room etc.
For me next week is another Doctor's appointment but not much else so maybe I'll get to relax! (HA! it's nice to dream right?)
Until Next time!
Breanna and Teagan (the bump)
